Martijn van Oijen is the director of Medical Diagnostics BV, the company facilitating this website. He has received a Master of Science in Biomedical Health Science at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center with two majors: Epidemiology and Medical Technology Assessment. His PhD thesis, entitled “Balancing gastrointestinal and cardiovascular outcomes in low-dose aspirin users”, includes a series of health services research projects relating to the complex interplay between cardiovascular benefits and gastrointestinal side effects relating to aspirin therapy.

He is the principal investigator in several ongoing research projects in dyspepsia, vitamin absorption, the genetic basis of aspirin metabolism, and clinical pathways to care for ischemic heart disease. Dr. van Oijen has advanced skills in database analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, and epidemiology.

Concurrently he holds a part-time post-doc position at the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center coordinating the construction of a large multi-center research database in order to facilitate future studies in inflammatory bowel disease. He is the principal epidemiologist of the UCLA/VA Center for Outcomes and Research Education (CORE), primarily investigating cost-effectiveness and quality of care.
